Lakeside Caravan Park, Blackpool. Date of Visit: July 2023.

Pitch: Hardstanding With Electric. £20.00 per night

Duration of stay: 4 Nights

Icon Key

Our brand new CL site is situated over 3 acres down a quiet country lane with a private 1 acre well-stocked coarse fishing lake. From the camp site, take a leisurely stroll around our winding pathway which surrounds the lake and through our cool woodland area taking in all the wildlife.

You can easily be mistaken in thinking you are in the middle of the Lake District as the picturesque surroundings and gentle sound of the water feature help you drift off into your own tranquillity.

There are many bridal paths and lovely dog walks to explore around the local area.

Our Route

Overview

The site is well presented, clean and tidy and Jackie was very welcoming. Fishing is definitely the top draw for this site and the lake looked great (although we don’t fish and I’m no expert!).

Pitch Description / condition

All the pitches are gravel and are close to level. There are 5 in total and they are very generous. 4 of the pitches have some view of the lake with 2 having a great view. The pitch we were on (highlighted) had zero view of the lake, but that did not detract from our stay as we left the site daily to go adventuring. There was water, electric and a picnic table on the pitch and the pitches were divided with potted plants / flowers. An elson point and bins were located near the main gate where there is also a drive over drain for grey waste.

Customer Service

Jackie was friendly and welcoming – we had no issues at all. There was local information available in the facilities and Jackie advised us of the best pub to go to and also what to avoid (in this case, the little cut through lanes which were muddy and overgrown due to recent bad weather!).

Facilities

The facilities were welcoming and very clean and tidy. Single female and male toilets and a shower room (Showers are charged extra). There is also information available about local attractions and a washing machine (no dryer).

Dog Friendly

The site is dog friendly and we met lots of other doggo’s – there is a nicely laid walk around the fishing lake as well! Locally, we did not find anywhere suitable for a good off lead run so ended up going to St Annes or Blackpool beech where there is plenty of space and access to certain parts for dogs all year.

A special mention needs to go to Caffe Chicco who provide a special dog menu in their café! Us hoomans had a lovely breakfast also but lets just hope Cassie does not want this in every café we go to lol

Nearby

There is a nice pub about 15-20 minute walk away which serves food and is dog / family friendly (The Shovels Menu). You can get the bus into Blackpool, its a good 15-20 walk to the bus stop from the site, but they go quite frequently.

St Annes is another lovely town also with a huge beech that stretches for miles!

We hired a car from Enterprise (which is about 30 minutes walk from the site, although I would not recommend walking as you have to walk on a road with no pavements), and we drove to Liverpool which was about an hour away. We also drove up the coast road to Fleetwood which is where the illuminations are (from September).

Summary

You can always tell when you have landed at a really nice site as everyone we met were returning visitors – one of the guys even returns every 8-9 weeks for the fishing. Fishing seems to be the main draw here, and if you don’t want to drive your motorhome about, then you are a little isolated with the bus stop a good walk away. Obviously if you have a car or are happy driving about then there is no issue!
